Orange Dreamsicle Ice Cream | Recipe of the Week

Posted by Blendtec on

One of the things we like to do here at Blendtec is take traditional recipes and make healthier versions of them. This Orange Dreamsicle Ice Cream just might be one of the best so far! Now, to be fair, we must warn you that this doesn't have quite the strong flavor store-bought ice cream will have. So, if you're expecting that, you may be disappointed.

However, it is REALLY yummy! All of our taste testers approved (and some of them were skeptical! The cabbage scared them... who has ever heard of ice cream with cabbage?!?) If you try it, we'd love to hear what you think! Come back here and share it in the comments or visit the recipe page and tell us there.

Healthy Orange Dreamsicle Ice Cream Recipe

Orange Dreamsicle Ice Cream

Ingredients

6 fl oz half and half (half milk/half cream)
¾ cup cabbage, roughly chopped
¼ fresh orange, rind removed
½ cup baby carrots, or 1 medium carrot
1 tbsp vanilla protein powder
½ tsp orange extract
¼ avocado
2½ cups ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Add half-and-half, cabbage, orange, and carrots to jar and secure lid. Blend on a medium speed (speed 4) for 15–20 seconds.
  2. Add remaining ingredients to jar and secure lid.
  3. Press the Ice Cream button. (If your blender doesn't feature an Ice Cream/Frozen Yogurt button, blend on a Low speed for 15 seconds, then blend on a Medium to Medium-High speed for 30 seconds.)
